TRAUMA PATIENTS’ ANALGESIA IN THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT: STRATEGIES, OUTCOMES, AND THE ROLE OF PATIENT SATISFACTION

ABSTRACT:
Background: Acute pain is a universal feature of traumatic injury and one of the leading causes of distress among patients in the emergency department. Timely and effective analgesia not only relieves suffering but also improves physiological stability, facilitates diagnosis and treatment, and enhances patient satisfaction.
Objective: This review summarizes contemporary strategies for pain management in trauma patients during the diagnostic process, explores their impact on patient satisfaction, and outlines best practices for anaesthesia and emergency teams.
Methods: A narrative review of recent clinical trials, systematic reviews, and practice guidelines published between January 2020 and June 2026 was conducted through PubMed, MEDLINE, and Scopus databases.
Conclusion: Multi-modal, patient-centred analgesia, including early assessment, pharmacologic and regional techniques combined with emphatetic communication, optimizes clinical outcome and patient experience. Patient satisfaction should be recognized as a vital quality indicator in trauma care.
